Car and wall chargers are often overlooked as a potential threat to the environment. The problem is that most of these power supplies are enclosed in plastic or other synthetic material, which, when thrown away, can release harmful chemicals. Technology and protocols constantly evolve, making older and outmoded chargers more likely to be thrown away since they have to be replaced with newer, faster versions.

We decided that the power was in our hands, literally! Our Global Energy Consumption Is Simply Shocking

In designing our eco-friendly phone chargers, we strive to inspire people to investigate renewable energy sources. The electricity industry is responsible for 29 percent of all global warming emissions. Accordingly, the majority of those emissions are generated by fossil fuels such as coal and natural gas (Union of Concerned Scientists, 2017, December 20). The result is a web of detrimental and significant impacts, including stronger storms, more frequent droughts, sea-level rise, and even the extinction of certain species. As of right now, the EIA predicts that “absent significant changes in policy or technology, global energy consumption will increase nearly 50% over the next 30 years” (U.S. Energy Information Administration 2021, October 7).
